About Author Daisy O. Harrison

Author Daisy O. Harrison

I'm a California real estate broker-investor by profession and an artist-writer by passion. I travel worldwide for subjects for my paintings and writings. My first two affordable travel books, "See Turkey For Less" and "See New Zealand For Less" were dedicated to my grandchildren to inspire them to travel, meet and understand people. l believe that making international travel affordable will continue global interface and diminish biases, stereotyping of people and misunderstanding of cultural differences. That may lead to world peace.

The architecture and artifacts in many destinations led me to think about the people who lived and moved there during those eras. They inspired me to write about fictional characters and weaved them with true historical characters from my research. I did that for my first historical fiction trilogy, "Love & Venom."

Traveling to Turkey inspired my first book of the trilogy, "Finding Love in Constantinople." The second book continued the multigenerational saga from Constantinople to Florence and the Vatican, in Rome. Again, "Finding the Weight of Blood" was inspired by my interest in the Renaissance and my frequent travels to Italy. While visiting Italy, I admired the paintings and sculptures at the Uffizi Gallery, the Academia Galleria, etc.

That led me to further research where I discovered that many artists were supported and commissioned by Lorenzo Medici and later by Duke Alessandro Medici. The third book to the trilogy, "Finding the Venome to End" narrated how the two sons of the hero in the first book figured in the life of "The Magnifico" and other events in the High Renaissance period. I enjoyed writing the third book the most. It is 250 pages. I wrote each page with gusto. My story can explain what history books failed to show. I gave life to the Renaissance.

My recent trip to Australia and Tasmania will lead to affordable travel books to there. It also inspired me in writing another trilogy based in the region down under.

Between gardening, painting, reading and traveling, I enjoy babysitting my two rambanctious grandkids, Enzo and Cassie.

Finding Love In Constantinople is a historical fiction inspired by the rich history of the Ottoman Empire that ruled a third of the world for centuries. The depiction of the events was accurate, but the characters who moved the story during the period were products of the author's imagination. It began with the kidnapping of a shepherd boy, Andreas alo
